SAUSAGEFEST: The L.A. Oktoberfest is here! Head over to Vanguard (6021 Hollywood Blvd.) for traditional German food, nearly 30 brands of beer and live entertainment. The all-day event goes from 1 to 5 p.m. today and continues at the same time tomorrow. Tickets are $35 for general admission, which begins at 2 p.m. Purchase your tickets here. AUTUMN The original Farmers Market (6333 West 3rd St.) is hosting its fall festival 2012 beginning at 11 a.m. today. The annual festival features a petting zoo, carnival games, live country music, a gun slinger show, craft demonstrations, the Farmers Market's famous pie-eating contest, and the a showcase of the world's largest potato. SKID ROW: From live music and dance performances on stage to an exhibit of paintings and drawings, Gladys Park will be filled will artwork of all mediums produced by Skid Row artists this weekend for the 3rd annual "Festival for All Skid Row Artists." In order to further represent the existing relationship between the residents of Skid Row and those of the surrounding areas, a number of artists outside of the area will be participating as well. SWEET: Four of Los Angeles' most prominent pastry chefs and authors will be forming a panel to discuss desserts for the event "The Girls are Baking: Los Angeles' classic desserts." Among the panelists are Jane Lockhart, founder of Sweet Lady Jane's Bakery, and Valerie Gordon of Valerie Confections. The event, sponsored by the Culinary Historians of Southern California, will take place at 10:30 a.m. in the Los Angeles Public Library. It's free and open to the public. STROLL: Today and Sunday you can enjoy the free Brewery Artwalk's fall event. Stroll around the Brewery and chat with the artists in their studios and lofts. Check out their work, shop and have a bite to eat. It's happening at 2100 N. Main St. from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Here's the event's website.
FOOD: Asian night market culture comes to Arcadia as the 626 Night Market hits the infield area of the Santa Anita Racetrack. The event takes place today from 3 p.m. to midnight and continues tomorrow from 3 to 10 p.m. Nearly 10,000 parking spaces will be available for attendees. 626 Night Market is free and open to the public. SOUL: One of L.A.'s largest street festivals, the 7th annual Taste of Soul Festival, brings together live entertainment, lots and lots of food, and fun for the entire family. ZOMBIES: Nearly 50 zombie models will be strutting down the catwalk tonight for the Zombie Fashion Show & Creature Art Exhibit. The event will also feature 300 pieces of themed artwork, live music by Glass Battles, a DJ spinning tracks all night, a free photo booth, and free all-you-can-eat pancakes. Artists and makeup artists alike are invited to enter the zombie fashion show and art submission competitions for a $250 to $500 cash prize. The 21+ event takes place in The Mezz Bar of the Alexandria Hotel from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Price: $10 cover, $5 before 8:30 p.m. For more information, visit their website.
SCAVENGER HUNT: Out of the Box Events and the L.A. Conservatory join forces for the 4th annual Haunts of Angelino Heights Scavenger Hunt. A portion of admission price—$30 per person—goes to the conservatory. Attendees can have up to six people per team. It's encouraged to bring one digital camera and flashlights per team. CRAFTS: Local artists and small businesses are spotlighted during SoCal Crafted, which takes place at the OCP Marketplace (1238 E.
