Following a record 1,144 cases of whooping cough in 2010, the number of reports of the illness has dropped by 50 percent in Southern California, reports CBS. And last week, no new cases were reported in San Diego County for the first time in eight months. Despite the encouraging news, it's still too early to say what will happen in coming weeks and months, says CBS.

Teenagers in Ventura County have gotten their hands on hash candy bars, and are making themselves sick by eating them and handing them out to unsuspecting teachers. KTLA reports that one student ate a chocolate Hubby's Edible Bar, then collapsed and had to be taken to the hospital, and another student gave part of a bar to a teacher, who also became ill after eating it (thinking it was a regular candy bar). The bars are being sold, according to the Ventura County DA's office, around LA and Ventura.

Private information about nearly 12,000 adult film stars has been publicized, after a website called Pornwikileaks released a list including their names, stage names and dates of birth. The leak was first reported by porn blogger Mike South, who claimed that the information could only have come from AIM, a medical clinic in the Valley that works with porn performers.

An unnamed cosmetics company has been the victim of a large-scale robbery, reports KTLA. A cargo container carrying the company's products was on its way to Washington when it was stolen in Utah. Goods were later traced to several locations in Los Angeles, including 9th and Broadway in downtown, Whittier Boulevard in East LA, Pacific Boulevard in Huntington Park and East Washington Boulevard in Commerce.

Whoever said that LA residents don't need seasonal wardrobes was wrong (you know who you are). After weeks of rain and cold temperatures, weather in LA hit a high of 80 degrees today, according to Weather Underground, and could reach up to 87 tomorrow in the city, and over 90 in parts of the Valley.

Everyone's favorite dispenser of justice has been hospitalized, reports KTLA. Judy Sheindlin, known by her TV persona Judge Judy, was taken from her set at KTLA around 9:12 a.m. today and rushed to a hospital, after reporting nausea and intestinal discomfort. Sheindlin, 68, will be kept at the hospital overnight for testing.

Carrie Thomas, the manager of a Shakey's in Moreno Valley, was found dead in her car after being shot in an apparent robbery near an ATM, reports the Press-Enterprise. Thomas, 23, had worked at the Shakey's for the past five or six years, according to the restaurant's owner, Harold Veum.

Billing itself as L.A.'s first Mexican American Cultural Center, LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes will open its doors on April 16, 2011. The center, which is located downtown on Main Street across from Olvera Street, encompasses 2.2 acres, including 30,000 square feet of garden and the Vickrey-Brunswig Building and Plaza House. It's stated mission is to celebrate the influence of Mexican and Mexican American culture on Los Angeles and Southern California.
