Following an approval from the LA City Council, fares for taxi service to LAX will increase by $1.50 a ride, from the current fee of $2.50 to $4, reports the LA Times. The company that runs taxis to and from the airport, Authorized Taxicab Supervision, will receive some of the increased profits, an LAX will receive the rest.

A man suspected of kidnapping a three-year-old girl was shot and killed in Montebello after being chased by police, reports KTLA. The man, who has yet to be identified, was followed by police around several residential neighborhoods after they were tipped off to a possible kidnapping. He then got out of his car near the 5 freeway with the child still in the backseat, and "appeared to be holding something in his right hand," according to KTLA.

The only thing better than a new installation of Star Wars is a recreation of the franchise using only Legos. And so it was, that LEGOLAND in Carlsbad built such a world. According to LEGOLAND's website, the theme park has developed a Star Wars miniland that features seven scenes from the six movies, and including planets like Naboo, Geonosis and Christophsis.

The OC couple that married on the 100th birthday of the groom is the oldest couple to ever wed, reports the OC Register. The current holders of the title in the Guiness Book of World Records are French couple Francois Frenandez and Madeleine Francineau, who had a combined age of 190 years and 126 days on their wedding day.

The man known as the "Mid-City Molester" was convicted on Friday of kidnapping and molestation. Daniel Merino, 42, was found guilty by a Los Angeles Superior Court jury of approaching four girls between the ages of eight and ten while they were on their way to school, reports the LA Independent. The girls were all alone when approached.

Today, the question of marriage equality made its way to Hollywood as a number of celebs signed on to petition President Obama to reconsider his stance against same-sex marriage. The petition was launched earlier this month by Freedom to Marry, a campaign that seeks to legalize gay marriage on a state and federal level. After gathering signatures -- including those added today of Lance Bass, Cyndi Lauper and Verne Troyer -- an open letter will be sent to the President asking him to "end exclusion from marriage."

Charges were filed today against a man accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl while dressed in a clown costume nine years ago. According to the Daily News, Jose Guadalupe Jimenez is now facing "two counts of lewd acts upon a child, a count of aggravated sexual assault of a child and a count of forcible lewd act on a child." Jimenez, who performs as a clown under the name "El Tin Larin," is accused of grabbing the girl off the street from behind, then taking her to a parking lot where he raped her in a car.

Looks like Simon Cowell doesn't have anything to worry about when it comes to his post-"American Idol" TV career. According to Entertainment Weekly, 15,000 people came out to the LA Sports Arena yesterday to audition for the acid-tongued judge's new show, "The X-Factor." The contest is a spin-off of the British show of the same name, which Cowell also judges.

Since 2007, one day a year has marked Earth Hour, during which folks across the globe shut off the lights and unplug for an hour to draw attention to energy overuse and climate change. This year's event is now upon us: Earth Hour 2011 is tonight at 8:30 p.m. (local time). Someone's been drinking the Mike Tyson kool-aid. During a fight at a Tustin 7-11, 26-year-old Ramon Bachocisneros of Santa Ana wielded a bottle and slashed another man on the neck, then severed part of his ear, reports the Daily Breeze. The fight occurred on March 11. After it, Bachocisneros fled the scene in a green Astro van. He was arrested yesterday.
