  • A high school in Pomona was on lockdown this morning after two separate threats of gun violence were called in, reports the LA Times. The paper adds that a SWAT team was called in to respond to the threats this morning.
  • People love to line up for shit. Don't ask us why, because we don't know. But the latest item that the masses stood single-file for is the new Nike Air Jordans, which came out today, and KTLA reports the sneakers generated waits that began on Wednesday.
  • It goes without saying that LAX is a hellhole today. The day before Christmas weekend, the airport is no doubt teeming with screaming babies, long lines and horrible people who don't ever realize when a kiosk has opened up and it's their turn to go.
  • Officials have amped up security at South Pasadena High School after a student allegedly reported that there would be gun violence happening there today, according to City News Service. Police received the tip yesterday, and said that they worked overnight to investigate the information. They determined that the tip didn't hold water.
  • Anyone out there who lives with a fear of getting their teeth cleaned is encouraged to cease reading this right here and now, because this will do nothing but ensure that you never visit the dentist again.
  • Police are looking into the car-to-car shooting of a man in his 40s in Whittier that happened early this morning, reports KTLA. The victim was found at about 6:00 a.m. after an accident was called in near Workman Mill Road and Beverly Boulevard.

  • Instagram recently announced changes to its policies that have a lot of people pissed off. Under the new regulations, it seemed for a moment as though the photo sharing site would be able to use pictures from people's accounts without compensating the poster.

  • One Los Angeles man was so saddened by the tragic elementary school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, that he called up a general store in the Northeast town and offered to buy coffee for grieving residents, reports ABC News.
