In the ongoing saga of Rufus the pacu fish, it’s “95 percent sure” he is going to be housed at Damon’s, the tiki restaurant in Glendale. When cult Rosemead spot Bahooka shuttered last year, fans of the tiki restaurant wondered what would happen to Rufus, the huge pacu fish who had been seen swimming in Bahooka’s tank for more than 35 years. HiddenLA had been trying to find a home for him, and now the website’s Lynn Garrett tells KPCC it looks like he’s headed to Damon’s.

"We're getting closer and closer all the time. There's a lot of logistics involved, so that's one of the toughest things. And also there's been quite a lot of press attention. We are 95 percent sure that he's going to Damon's, and we have to work out the logistics of undertaking that."

Rufus’ original tank needs to be replaced so he doesn’t die of shock (well, mostly because the tank might not make the move); Damon’s has to make sure it can handle the ton and a half of tank, fish and water that housing Rufus would require.

Meanwhile, Rufus is apparently in good spirits— Garrett said that he rushed over to see her when she visited Bahooka this week.
