Bachelor #3- An Adorable Guy with Some Bad Timing

So the past couple weeks I’ve been hanging out with Sports Guy, the non Jdate boy I met in the midst of my experiment. Even though we’re pretty opposite, I mean his name is Sports Guy, we can’t seem to get enough of each other. He likes me a lot and doesn’t hesitate to tell me so, and even though things with him are going well, my profile is still on Jdate. I’m trying not to put all my eggs in one basket I suppose, and I figure I can worry about this Jdate stuff once Sports Guy and I have “The Talk” which seems to be fast approaching. In the meantime Bachelor #3 and I made plans, after many witty email exchanges, to meet for drinks at a pub near my house.
The truth is, despite our fun emails, I wasn’t that excited to go out with Bachelor #3, actually I wasn’t looking forward to it at all, probably because it was Sports Guy’s first night off of work in awhile and I kind of wanted to hang out with him instead.
My plan was just to get through it, like a good little Jewish trooper. I'd make conversation, have a drink and then say I had to go home because I had “early meetings”. Then I’d call Sports Guy.
My rock solid escape plan was foolproof, that is, until I saw Bachelor #3 waiting for me at the bar in all is adorable glory. That’s right, I said adorable.
Oy Vey.
Bachelor #3 and I started talking like old friends, and the truth is he did seem like an old friend, he reminded me of boys I went to college with, not the meatheads, but the cool ones. We ordered the same drink, Kettle and soda, we realized we were at the same Outkast concert circa 2003 in Boston, we played the name game with people we knew who went to each others schools and figured out we both bought pot from the same kid, albeit different years. He asked me what the weirdest Jdate I’ve been on was and I felt comfortable telling him about Flomax Guy(Bachelor #2), which he thought was hysterical. The conversation came so easily, especially when it got to the mind-blowing season finale of Lost. I guess it doesn’t take too much for me to like someone, especially if they watch Lost and their favorite character is Desmond.
I was having such a good time that when Bachelor #3 got up to use the restroom I didn’t even check my phone to see if Sports Guy called me, instead I took the opportunity to re-apply my lip gloss. Bachelor #3 came back and took a new seat, not the one he was sitting at across from me all night, but rather the seat right next to me and this is when things got a little dicey.
We chatted for a couple more minutes in our new seating order until without any warning, Bachelor #3 grabbed my face and kissed me soap opera style. Right in the middle of the bar. And when I say soap opera style, I'm talking tongue, saliva, face grabbing and hair petting.
Yikes.
Now, I'm not totally against PDA, but this? Not the right place OR time. So I blushed and looked around to see if anyone was totally grossed out by us, the couple that made out in the bar, I mean, I would have been. But no one seemed to have noticed.
That's when he tried his guerrila warfare attempt at kissing again, but before he could get his tongue anywhere near my face I suggested that we leave. He walked me back to my car and on the way I noticed his good style, his tall build and just how cute he was- why'd he have to go and do that weird thing in the bar? I mean, I was definitely having a good hair day and looking cute, but I'm not that irresistible.
We kissed again at my car (a much more appropriate location) and he said he wanted to see me again. I said I did too, making a mental note to have a little chat with him about nixing the public makeouts. As I was driving home I thought about how I had been hoping for a deal breaker, no chemistry- basically a reason to not see him again so I could just see Sports Guy and forget about Jdate, but that's not what happened.
And when I did finally check my phone I saw that Sports Guy had in fact called while I was out with Bachelor #3, and I felt a pang of guilt, I am Jewish after all....
I have to say that Jdate in general, is turning out to be much better than I expected- I thought I would have way more horror stories to tell- maybe online dating is losing its stigma, maybe I just have a good screening process, but either way I'm pleasantly surprised at the level of bachelordom I've met so far.
Tonight Sports Guy is taking me to the racetrack, I've never been. No new bachelors on the immediate horizon for me, I think my plate is full with these two.
Stay tuned....
