A homeless man was arrested yesterday after pointing a fake AK-47 at passing cars on the corner of Los Feliz Road and brand Blvd., reports the LA Times: "Fearing that Schwartz would fire what they thought was a real gun, [Glendale Police Sgt. Tom] Lorenz said several motorists swerved to avoid his aim."

Legendary vocalist Etta James will undergo a medical evaluation based on an order issued today by a Riverside County Superior Court judge, according to the LA Times. One hopes that even scam artists would have a little respect for tragedy. But apparently, there are those out there who don't. The Daily News reports that "con artists" have been soliciting donations in the name of fallen LAFD firefighter Glenn Allen, 61, who died as a result of injuries he sustained on the job last week.

A man who went missing on Saturday has been found in Mount San Jacinto in Riverside County, and is in good condition, according to ABC News. Dr. Brian Carrico, 57 of Redondo Beach hadn't been heard from since leaving for the hike on Saturday, alone. ABC reports that he became disoriented when he found himself in a whiteout, and in temperatures that dropped down to the teens.

The victim of a shooting in Echo Park last night was revealed today in an LAPD email to be a 13-year-old boy. Police say that the shooting was gang-related. The boy was reportedly approached by several men while he was standing on the corner of Temple Street and Benton Way. The men, who had exited a parked car, shot the boy multiple times, leaving him dead at the scene, then returned to their vehicle...
