Legendary vocalist Etta James will undergo a medical evaluation based on an order issued today by a Riverside County Superior Court judge, according to the LA Times. James, who has dementia and leukemia, has been living at home and receiving 24-hour care, but questions arose in court as to how reliable that care may be:

A confidential report by a court investigator raised concerns about the quality of James’ care, however, including a procedure to insert a feeding tube into her stomach being conducted at her home, her son’s attorneys told the judge during the hearing.

The singer's husband and sons have been duking it out in court over the rights to James' $1 million in savings, claiming, reports the Times, that their main concern is James' health.
