LAUSD has received a gift of one millllliion dollars from the Wasserman Foundation, a group that supports efforts and organizations involved in health, culture, education and global initiatives. A suspect has been arrested in the death of a woman who was shot in front of a home in Irvine, reports the OC Register. The woman's neighbors reported hearing screams and then gunshots just after 2:00 p.m. today.

High school yearbooks tend to be embarrassing enough when we look back at them five or ten years later. But for two Big Bear High School students, they are about to become infinitely more humiliating, after the school's annual printing was recalled because a picture of the duo constituted child pornography. In the photo, which hasn't been released for obvious reasons, a 17-year-old boy can be seen in the background with his hands up a 15-year-old girl's skirt, reports KCBS.

As part of a statewide effort, Attorney General Kamala D. Harris announced today that agents seized 1,209 guns from people who are legally barred from having them, including those who are deemed mentally unstable, people with active restraining orders and known gang members. The sweep was the second of its kind, and netted three times as many weapons as the first effort in 2007.

After putting the car she was sitting in into reverse and falling ten feet into a storm drain, a 14-year-old girl is in grave condition, reports the Daily News. The crash happened just after 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday night in Tujunga. The girl, whose name hasn't been released, was sitting in the vehicle in a church parking lot after a youth event.
