A 22-year-old man was shot and killed by police last night in Van Nuys following a high speed chase, reports City News Service. The man, whose name hasn't been released, was reportedly firing at officers first, after they tried to pull him over.

This morning, following several rounds of competition and elimination, the 95th Rose Queen will be announced for the 2013 Tournament of Roses Royal Court. The winner will be selected out of eight finalists -- known as the Rose Court -- who were announced on October 8. Those eight were chosen from an original pool of 900 applicants, who began their interview process back in September.

A couple and their dog were found dead in an apartment in Koreatown today in what police believe was a murder/suicide, reports ABC 7. The man and woman, estimated to be in their late 30s or early 40s, were discovered at about 12:20 p.m. in their bed with a toy Pomeranian. All three had been shot to death.

Alana Thompson, a.k.a. Honey Boo Boo, is in town this week and staying at the Roosevelt, reports TMZ. A cyclist in his 60s was killed this morning in North Hollywood after being struck by a car, reports City News Service. The crash happened at about 6:00 a.m. at the intersection of Oxnard Street and Radford Avenue.

The hours of L.A.'s 73 libraries were reduced in 2010 in response to city-wide budget cuts. As of Monday, though, the hours are being restored. In a statement, the Los Angeles Public Library announced that they'll be staying open late on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and opening early on Friday mornings.

Two men already suspected of running three houses with marijuana growing operations in Diamond Bar and Hacienda Heights might be responsible for a fourth house, where authorities found $2 million worth of plants in various stages of maturity yesterday.
