And the 95th Annual Rose Queen Is... [UPDATED]
UPDATE 9:40 a.m.: The 95th Rose Queen is Vanessa Manjarrez, 17, a senior at Mayfield High.
This morning, following several rounds of competition and elimination, the 95th Rose Queen will be announced for the 2013 Tournament of Roses Royal Court.
The winner will be selected out of eight finalists -- known as the Rose Court -- who were announced on October 8. Those eight were chosen from an original pool of 900 applicants, who began their interview process back in September. They were first whittled down to a group of 33.
The Rose Court attends over 150 events leading up to the Tournament of Roses on January 1, 2013. The young women eligible for participation are between the ages of 17 and 21, have never been married and have no children, and attend Pasadena area schools.
The winner will be announced this morning at 9:30 a.m. Stay tuned for updates.
