There are many excellent reasons to not drink and drive, and just one of them is that you could get caught at one of four checkpoints that LAPD is planning for the weekend. LAPD and other police agencies do like to announce these checkpoints, because it reminds would-be drunk drivers that police officers are on the lookout for them (and not just at checkpoints!).

Police have named one of two men that they suspect of kidnapping a 10-year-old Northridge girl from her home last Wednesday. Police are asking for the public's help finding Tobias Dustin Summers, 30, who was named as a suspect. They said he has short blond hair, large tattoos of a flaming skeleton and a woman on his right arm.

Brace yourselves: parts of Los Feliz Boulevard is going to be shut down during the daytime starting this week while crews from the Department of Water and Power replace underground electric lines. The project won't let up until fall.

Lil Wayne is speaking out for the first time about how he ended up in the ICU at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Yesterday he told Power 106 in L.A. that he suffers from epilepsy and that he often has seizures, though he hasn't spoken out publicly about them: "Like, this isn’t my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh seizure. I’ve had a bunch of seizures, y’all just never hear about them."
