A man was killed today after a limo driver chasing a hit-and-run driver ended up getting into a second accident in a Van Nuys intersection. It appears that the limo driver ran a red light, but the investigation was ongoing, police said.

f you've ever had a thief punch out your car window, you might have figured it was too much of a hassle to call police for what was in all likelihood a lost cause. But now the LAPD is planning to roll out a program that would help Angelenos file police reports for lower-level crimes just car break-ins.

Lindsay Lohan is reportedly taking advantage of her last days of freedom by drinking vodka. Sources tell the site that not long after Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in rehab, she headed back to the bar at her Beverly Hills Hotel and knocked back vodka sodas. The source added that Lohan didn't consider it ironic or anything.

A 9-year-old girl hiked a mile through difficult terrain in the middle of a cold night to get help after the SUV she was in tumbled off a remote section of highway in the mountains north of Los Angeles. Her 35-year-old father did not survive the crash, and authorities suspect he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Tonight the World Wide Fund for Nature is promoting Earth Hour, an annual event since 2007 that encourages people all around the globe to turn out all their non-essential lights for an hour to bring attention to climate change. In Southern California, Earth Hour will be taking place from 8:30 until 9:30 pm.

The California Department of Education has released a new list of recommended reading, and for the first time ever it is including books that deal with gender and sexuality. The state comes out with a recommended reading list every year, but this year's list includes selections like an activity book for young children about gay rights leader Harvey Milk or "I am J," which is a novel about transgender teens that's more appropriate for teens.

One girl was killed and another hiker was injured today on their hike in Eaton Canyon Park above Altadena. Emergency responders got a call around 11:30 am this morning reporting that four people had fallen to some rocks below.
