Walking in L.A.: Venice Beach

We're big fans of exploring different L.A. neighborhoods on foot, and one of our favorites is the Venice Beach area. We can happily while away half an hour exploring what's left of the canals, or head to the east and burn a few hours exploring the mix of stores and bistros on Abbot Kinney boulevard. We're still using our Maphawk (available at a lot of businesses in Venice) to pick out new retail landmarks to visit.

So we read today's New York Times piece, "36 Hours in Venice," with more than a little passing interest. And while we don't agree with all the dining choices -- personally, we think everyone should visit the Canal Club at least once, because the sushi starters are that good -- we think this is a fine article to save the next time you're in the mood to play tourist in your hometown.
