Tom Morello To Play Free Show at 3 p.m. Today in Anaheim in Support of Fasting Disney Workers
Rocker and protest music revivalist Tom Morello, also known as the Nightwatchman, will be playing a free show today at 3 p.m. in the streets adjacent to the Disneyland Hotel to draw attention to hospitality workers who have been on a water-only fast since February 9. The workers are fasting to draw attention to health and safety conditions for workers at the Disney resort and to the 2-year contract dispute with the union.
According to Unite Here!, the organization representing hospitality workers that planned today's parking lot show:
"Disney Hotel Workers are fasting because they feel unsafe on the job. While the workers have been without the protection of a contract for two years, workload and managerial pressure has increased and staffing levels have decreased. Workers have experienced heart attacks, strokes and serious musculoskeletal injuries at work. To show Disney the gravity of this situation, 15 hotel workers will go without food indefinitely and camp out in front of Disney starting on Feb. 9. We're making a giant shrine of photos and artwork to honor a worker that had a heart attack and died on the job and the hundreds more who have sustained serious injury under such tremendous pressure at work."
3 p.m. Saturday. Free. Location: 1150 Magic Way, Anaheim, CA 92802) (between Disneyland Drive and Walnut Street, immediately past the entrance of the Disneyland Hotel). Free 3-hr parking for Downtown Disney, just off of Magic Way (before the action site).

As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.
Simply put, we cannot do this essential work without your help. Federal funding for public media has been clawed back by Congress and that means LAist has lost $3.4 million in federal funding over the next two years. So we’re asking for your help. LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.
We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.
No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, press freedom is at the core of keeping our nation free and fair. And as the landscape of free press changes, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust, but the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news from our community.
Please take action today to support your trusted source for local news with a donation that makes sense for your budget.
Thank you for your generous support and believing in independent news.
