Man Stabbed Wife With Meat Cleaver In Front Of A Child, Police Say
A man was arrested today after he told authorities he stabbed his wife in the head with a meat cleaver in front of a 7-year-old child.Thang Van Nguyen, 46, turned himself in to the Garden Grove Fire Department this morning at 6:46 a.m., and told authorities he killed his wife, Garden Grove police told KTLA. Police detained Nguyen, and he took them to the couple's home located on the 12700 block of Flower Street, where they found 44-year-old Huong Nguyen conscious with several stab wounds in her head.
She was rushed to UCI Medical Center and was placed in a medically included coma. Huong Nguyen is listed in critical condition.
To make matters worse, a 7-year-old child witnessed the grisly incident. A 19-year-old who was also there but did not see the attack called his uncle, who alerted police. Tony Caminos, who manages the apartment complex where they live, told NBC Los Angeles that the 7-year-old and 19-year-old are the children of the couple. The children were unharmed and are now staying with a relative, according to the OC Register.
"The incident occurred because of marital problems the couple were having," Garden Grove police Lt. Bob Bogue told the Register.
Thang Nguyen was arrested under suspicion of attempted murder.
