Vice President Mike Pence has cancelled a planned fundraising trip to California, according to the Beverly Hills Police Department.

Beverly Hills Police Sergeant Matthew Stout told LAist that Secret Service had informed him that the trip was cancelled. "We have a close working relationship with the Secret Service," Stout said. The L.A. Times reports that Pence cancelled due to hurricane recovery efforts. The Los Angeles Secret Service office told LAist that only the White House could comment on travel plans.

A coalition of liberal activists groups had planned to protest outside of a high-dollar fundraiser Pence was scheduled to hold with House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy on Thursday at the Beverly Hilton. It remains unclear if the fundraiser—which would have benefitted Pence’s and McCarthy’s political action committees, the National Republican Congressional Committee and the congressional campaign accounts of a number of local Republicans—will go on in Pence's absence. It's also unclear if any protest or rally will still be held. We'll update this post when more information becomes available.
