Every Saturday, LAist will feature an adoptable cat and dog from a different local shelter or accredited 501c3 rescue organization. Take a look at these furry bundles and consider giving them a home, or forward their faces to your friends who may be interested.

This week's pets are from the Volunteers of Burbank Animal Shelter, a 501(c)(3) animal service agency that is devoted to providing medical, social, behavioral and financial care for animals at risk and determined to eliminate animal homelessness in the Burbank community.

Stevie, like all Chihuahuas, is small but mighty! He is 6 years old and gets along well with other dogs. Stevie loves attention and his excellent temperament would make him a great family dog. He'd be happy happy in any size home but should be an indoor dog. He is ready to go home with his new family, just say the word! To meet this little creamsicle, contact the shelter and inquire about Stevie, ID#A036192.

Tigger will tug on your heart strings. He is a gorgeous orange 10 year old male neutered Tabby who lost his home when his senior person could no longer care for him. He's shy at first, but after he gets to know you, he'll be by your side looking for love and conversation. Since Tigger is used to being the only pet in the home that may be the best situation for him, but isn't mandatory. To meet this handsome fellow, contact the shelter and ask about Tigger, ID#A037417.

If these guys don't seem like a good fit, there are many more pets waiting for homes at the Burbank Animal Shelter. Don't let rain (or snow) or shine keep you from meeting your new best friend!

At LAist, we believe in journalism without censorship and the right of a free press to speak truth to those in power. Our hard-hitting watchdog reporting on local government, climate, and the ongoing housing and homelessness crisis is trustworthy, independent and freely accessible to everyone thanks to the support of readers like you.

But the game has changed: Congress voted to eliminate funding for public media across the country. Here at LAist that means a loss of $1.7 million in our budget every year. We want to assure you that despite growing threats to free press and free speech, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust. Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.

We’re asking you to stand up for independent reporting that will not be silenced. With more individuals like you supporting this public service, we can continue to provide essential coverage for Southern Californians that you can’t find anywhere else. Become a monthly member today to help sustain this mission.

Thank you for your generous support and belief in the value of independent news.
