Are you looking for true love this Valentine's Day? If you yearn for someone to share breakfast with, who will never tire of giving you kisses and will always be happy to see you, your perfect match is out there! Los Angeles has 1,000's of adoptable pets waiting for the chance to give unconditional love. Even if you have your heart set on a particular breed, 25% of pets in shelters are pure bred, and in Los Angeles, there is a rescue organization for nearly every breed imaginable. Adoption saves lives.
Every Saturday, LAist will feature an adoptable cat and dog from a different local shelter or accredited 501c3 rescue organization. Take a look at these furry bundles and consider giving them a home, or forward their faces to your friends who may be interested.
This week's pets are from Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA). spcaLA is a nonprofit animal welfare organization that has served the LA community since 1877. spcaLA is dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals through law enforcement, humane education, intervention and advocacy. There is no national SPCA or umbrella organization. All SPCAs are independent organizations that serve the community in which they reside.

Brianna (#10-03702)
Brianna is a 6 year old American Eskimo who came to spcaLA as a stray. She knows sit and enjoys her daily walks. She craves affection and will settle down nicely beside you on the couch or in your lap. Brianna’s particular about her dog friends, so she may do best in a home where she is the only pet. Brianna is eligible for Underdog Rewards, spcaLA's special adoption rate for pets 6 years and older. Brianna is available at the spcaLA P.D. Pitchford Companion Animal Village at 7700 E. Spring St. in Long Beach, (562) 570-7722.

Sassafras (#11-00734)
Sassafras is a beautiful long-haired gray and white tabby. She is 5 years old. She is a little shy, but warms up quickly. Because of her shyness, she would do best in an adult home or a home with older children. She loves to be brushed and she gets along with other cats. She has been at the spcaLA since November is eagerly awaiting her new home. Sassafras is available at the spcaLA South Bay Pet Adoption Center at 12910 Yukon Avenue in Hawthorne, (310) 676-1149.
At LAist, we believe in journalism without censorship and the right of a free press to speak truth to those in power. Our hard-hitting watchdog reporting on local government, climate, and the ongoing housing and homelessness crisis is trustworthy, independent and freely accessible to everyone thanks to the support of readers like you.
But the game has changed: Congress voted to eliminate funding for public media across the country. Here at LAist that means a loss of $1.7 million in our budget every year. We want to assure you that despite growing threats to free press and free speech, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust. Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.
We’re asking you to stand up for independent reporting that will not be silenced. With more individuals like you supporting this public service, we can continue to provide essential coverage for Southern Californians that you can’t find anywhere else. Become a monthly member today to help sustain this mission.
Thank you for your generous support and belief in the value of independent news.
