Grand Plans
The Grand Avenue Committee invites "you to join us and to learn of our progress in preliminary planning of the Grand Avenue project which aims to transform LA’s downtown, stimulate reinvestment in the community and create a new civic and cultural heart of the city for all Angelenos."
The next phase of the public process begins this Tuesday, February 22nd at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion Grand Hall in Downtown (135 Grand Ave). Other outreach meetings are scheduled in order to gather input from Westside, Boyle Heights, Van Nuys, and South LA. residents. Project ideas and principles thus far have merit -- though if we may make a quick judgement, the website images sure reek of that certain brand of feel-good City Lite.
Charette or charade? Attend the symposia and decide for yourself. Or if your city planning ambitions far, far exceed providing input at community forums, perhaps this new City job posting is more up your alley.
