A Seafood Festival On The Santa Monica Pier & More Weekend Eats

Because we can't survive on donuts and cocktails alone—try as we may—we've rounded up a platter of delicious events for you to check out this weekend. From an oyster shucking competition at a seafood festival to a spicy fried chicken and frozen pudding pairing, get ready to stuff your face all weekend long with these events.
Off The Hook, Santa Monica Seafood Festival
Seafood lovers need to get down to the Santa Monica Pier on Saturday for the inaugural Off The Hook seafood extravaganza. From 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. the fest will feature briny bites from local seafood heroes like The Albright, The Jolly Oyster, Catch, Geoffrey’s Malibu, Herringbone and more. Salt & Straw will also be scooping up their wild ice cream flavors. You can also show off your skills at an oyster shucking competition, while local bands Black Crystal Wolf Kids and Brightside rock out. Tickets are $70 for general admission and $100 for VIP with a portion of proceeds going to non-profit Seafood for the Future and Santa Monica Pier Restoration.

Taste Of Mexico Food Festival
Get ready for plenty of tacos, ceviche and free-flowing tequila at the fifth annual Taste of Mexico Food Festival which takes place downtown this Saturday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event—taking place at La Plaza de Cultura y Artes—will feature food tastings from L.A. institutions like Guelaguetza and newcomers like Guerrilla Tacos, as well as an all-you-can-drink tequila bar, mezcaleria and michelada beer garden. This year there will also be a marketplace featuring local artisanal edibles, crafts and clothing. General admission tickets are $65 and VIP tickets, which include special tastings and a gift bag, go for $85.

Pop-Up Pudding Party With Fried Chicken
On Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., The Alibi Room in Culver City will host a pop-up featuring free samples from newcomer little spoon frozen pudding. There will also be beer floats made of brown sugar vanilla frozen pudding. Howlin' Ray's Hot Chicken Food Truck will also be on hand serving up their addictive and spicy, Nashville-style fried chicken. And for those brave enough to try Ray's supremely fiery Howlin' Hot flavor, you will receive more free pudding to help cool off.
