Weekend Eats: L.A. Beer Week And Two Fab Brunch Ideas To Cure Your Hangover

The weekend is so close you can practically taste it. Here are the edible events going on in the next few days to keep you occupied -- and sated, for that matter.
L.A. Beer Week: Now in its fifth year, annual beer week fest aims to showcase Los Angeles as a burgeoning craft beer destination by helping put together hundreds of events at venues all around town, with focused tastings, educational seminars, and beer pairing dinners for craft beer aficionados and neophytes alike. It all starts with the official LA Beer Week Opening Gala, which will take place on Sunday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the historic Union Station. The event has been hotter than blazes in years past, so this time around the organizers are moving it inside, where there'll be air conditioning aplenty. Tickets to the Opening Gala are $70, and include four-ounce tasters of beer from over 50 of the world's best breweries. Brunch at Girasol: CJ Jacobsen just launched brunch at Girasol in Studio City, giving Valley dwellers a place to congregate on weekend mornings over dishes like Strawberry and Bellwether Farms Ricotta Crepes with Fresh Market Strawberry Coulis and Bergamot Mint or Steak and Eggs with Foraged Pickled California Walnuts, and Crispy Kennenbeck Potatoes. The hyper-local menu features items foraged from Angeles National Forest, which is certainly something new for the neighborhood.
