Weekend Eats: Dia de los Muertos, Thai at the Viceroy, and More

The weekend is so close you can practically taste it. Here are the edible events going on in the next few days to keep you occupied -- and sated for that matter.
Delish food festival with the Hungry Channel: The folks over at Hungry are partnering with nonprofit Project Angel Food for a culinary event on Sunday from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at Siren Studios in Hollywood. Guests can participate interactive demonstarations as well as tastings at various food stations staffed by talent from the Hungry YouTube channel. Some of the stars that'll be in attendance include Duff Goldman, the Beer Chicks, and Steve Livigni and Daniel K. Nelson of Drink Inc. As with any food festival worth attending, there'll be plenty of booze on hand as well as demos from Project Angel Food’s own bakers and more. Thai cooking at the Viceroy: Top Chef alum Chris Crary and Kay Plunkett-Hogge, a London-based food writer, broadcaster and Bangkok-born Brit, to present some of their favorite dishes and memories from Thailand. This Sunday, they'll be cooking a dinner at Santa Monica's Viceroy Hotel with all the knowledge Crary obtained from his recent trip overseas-- or can at least remember after all the aforementioned brew. Last week's dinner included a gorgeous whole fried fish, boat noodle soup, ginger spiced carrot cake, and Sriracha bootlegged back into the States from Thailand. The dinner runs $40, and it's an insane amount of food for the money. You can purchase your seat on the Singha site, or call Whist at the Viceroy for reservations.

Guelaguetza, La Casita Mexicana, Frida's, and La Monarca Bakery will be serving up Mexican sweets and treats at this year's celebration of the Day of the Dead, which takes place from noon til midnight on Saturday. Bring your face paint, and your appetite. Visit the site for other goings-on throughout the day.
