CSA Cocktails and Open Bars That'll Get You Through Hump Day

It's only Wednesday, and the work week is dragging on in an abnormally painful manner -- perhaps due to the anticipation of the mayhem that will ensue at this weekend's Coachella festival.
Well, there are a couple cocktailing to-dos this evening that can help you pull through. Here's what's shakin:
Pour Vous' Anniversary: In honor of this classy French cocktail bar's one year anniversary, Pour Vous is doing an open bar this evening from 8-10 p.m. Their Facebook page recommends getting there early (i.e. 8 p.m.), because things are bound to get crowded. Oh, and please wear something suitable to the occasion. The bars in this group are classy establishments (La Descarga, Harvard & Stone). For directions and location, check out their site here.
CSA Cocktails at Cliff's Edge: We're big fans of the new goings-on at Cliff's Edge in Silver Lake, what with the stunning cookery of Vartan Abgaryan and the weekly pop-ups by barman Matthew Biancaniello. This week, Biancaniello will be partnering up with Tara Kolla of Silver Lake Farms to make specialty cocktails with her farm-fresh produce. The bar fills up quickly on the nights he's there, and the intricate drinks take some time to make, so just be patient. And while you're waiting, feel free to talk to Kolla about the CSA program. You'll need those veggies for your detox when you return from the desert. For more info and location, visit the Cliff's Edge site. Here are some of the CSA cocktails on offer for $13 each:
Bad to the Bone: Bone marrow infused bourbon with smoked cayenne infused egg whites
Sweet Bitter End of Tokyo: Mochi infused sake with the rest of the Surinam cherries
Hanky Panky: Bols Genver, lovage, Paige mandarins, Aperol, ghost pepper salt
Wild Mustard Gin Punch: Hendricks, strawberries, apple mint and sweet clover infused cream
I Pray This One's For Kai: Champagne, Aperol , blood Orange and ginger infused Saint Germain foam
As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.
Simply put, we cannot do this essential work without your help. Federal funding for public media has been clawed back by Congress and that means LAist has lost $3.4 million in federal funding over the next two years. So we’re asking for your help. LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.
We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.
No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, press freedom is at the core of keeping our nation free and fair. And as the landscape of free press changes, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust, but the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news from our community.
Please take action today to support your trusted source for local news with a donation that makes sense for your budget.
Thank you for your generous support and believing in independent news.
