Our June member drive is live: protect this resource!
Right now, we need your help during our short June member drive to keep the local news you read here every day going. This has been a challenging year, but with your help, we can get one step closer to closing our budget gap. Today, put a dollar value on the trustworthy reporting you rely on all year long. We can't hold those in power accountable and uplift voices from the community without your partnership.

MexiKosherchef Katsuji Tanabe is doing a one-night pop-up at Mexicali Taco Co with Chef Esdras Ochoa to celebrate Black Friday. The meal will feature all sorts of themed items, dyed black from squid ink, blood, and the like. (It comes as a given that this meal won't be kosher, as Tanabe's food normally is at Mexikosher.)

The meal will feature traditional Mexican home style cooking with a twist. It will only be served today. The a la carte menu includes pulpos en su tinta tacos con chipotle vino tinto (grilled local octopus tacos, red wine chipotle glaze, shaved bottarga); camarones al petroleo (clay pot of spicy shrimp fondue with squid ink); and morcilla tacos (house made blood sausage with habanero sauce and crispy rocky mountain oysters). Items are served a la carte.

So if you're doing your Black Friday shopping Downtown, this will be the perfect way to end the day -- if you're not a squeamish eater that is.
