Tee Hee: Fred Willard Lends a Hand (or Two) in Theatre Ad
Like Franklin Avenue, we also had a chuckle when we saw a couple of Tweeted photos from Angelenos who got the latest L.A. Theatre Works mailer. Why? Well, in a bit of (im)perfect timing, the theatre company's ad shows actor Fred Willard grinning and holding up his two hands.
Lest you've forgotten, back when the LAPD were more concerned with people self-servicing in adult movie theatres (as opposed to, say, people shooting up midnight screenings of blockbuster action releases) they nabbed Willard in Hollywood. That night, however, unlike in this mailer, Willard's hands weren't exactly being held up in the air. Ahem.
Willard was busted for lewd conduct at the Tiki Theater, but claims not only is he "not guilty" but also that the movie was "lousy." While Willard lost his gig at PBS immediately after the arrest, it's nice to see L.A. Theatre Works didn't do any yanking of their own when it came to this mailer.
I guess they went to press a while ago on this mailer. http://t.co/Li402n4J
