Pretty Boy Jamie Dornan Will Play Christian Grey in 'Fifty Shades of Grey'
The Irish actor, folk singer and one-time Calvin Klein model Jamie Dornan has reportedly been cast in the lead of the mommy porn bestseller "50 Shades of Grey."
Dornan was chosen for the role of Christian Grey opposite Dakota Johnson after "Sons of Anarchy" star Charlie Hunnam dropped out of the role. (There were rumors that Hunnam couldn't handle the glaring spotlight that came with such a high-profile role.)
Variety is reporting Dornan was offered the role after testing with Johnson last Friday. Actor Billy Magnussen was also brought in for a screen test.
A little about Dornan who up until now was a relative unknown: the 31-year-old actor from Northern Ireland most recently played the huntsman/Sheriff Graham on ABC's "Once Upon a Time" and a serial killer on BBC's "The Fall." He also had a role as a count on "Marie Antoinette." He dropped out of university to play rugby and got into modeling when he was discovered by an agency in Belfast. He dated Keira Knightley for two years, and he played in a folk duo Sons of Jim until 2008. He married a British singer/songwriter/actress Amelia Warner this spring, and they're expecting their first child soon.
There's already a lot of talk about whether Dornan's modeling and role "Once Upon A Time" were good preparation for the twisted sex scenes in "50 Shades."
Back in 2009, Dornan gave an interview with The Daily Mail while he was still mostly modeling. He expressed an interest then in playing more than the pretty boy: "I suppose the bulk of what I’ll be put up for is love interest. But there’s time to prove myself."
