Los Angeles in late summer boasts a couple of big-time music festivals -- from H20 Festival to FYF Fest -- but there aren't too many events with serious star power and a meager ticket price. That being said, bargain-seeking L.A. music fans should get excited: the Mad Decent Block Party is coming to town again, and it's still 100% free.

For the uninitiated, Mad Decent Block Party is a traveling music festival that gifts a day of free music, food, drink and fun to several cities around North America every summer. It's organized by Mad Decent, the L.A.-based record label run by electro artist and mega-producer Diplo. They promise an "outdoor festival extravaganza," t-shirt making, games, surprise guests and a unique lineup in every city it hits.

The block party comes to Los Angeles Center Studios just west of Downtown L.A. on August 25 from noon to 8pm. There's no word yet on the lineup, but Mad Decent's stops in Toronto, New York and Philadelphia this month include electro-funk act Major Lazer, dubstep DJ Zeds Dead and indie rockers Reptar. Whatever the lineup, it should be a fun -- and free -- good time. If you're still in doubt, check out last year's photos as well as this year's video promos.
