Perhaps you've been sitting around for the past 22 years, since "Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey," wondering why there hasn't been another excellent adventure on the big screen.

Well, wonder no longer—according to MTV, Keanu Reeves recently explained that the reason for the delay is..."darkness."

To wit:

"There is [a script]...There's all sorts of stuff and it just can't — it's just — there's darkness out there that's keeping it from happening... It's that part of the story where it's looking grim. It's the dark period of the idea!"

It's not clear exactly what kind of darkness Reeves is referring to, but it sounds cryptic and in fact, not unlike the kind of thing that Bill and Ted might encounter if they were to embark on a third adventure.

As he waits for the darkness to clear, Reeves is working on making his directorial debut with the upcoming martial arts film, “Man of Tai Chi,” according to the Washington Post.
