Last year The Wreckers had to go through the misery of going on the Don Imus show. What could be worse than following an intro like that? Oh right, having to talk with Imus for a half hour. The Wreckers are the delightfully talented duo of Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp. Their debut cd Stand Still, Look Pretty went gold in the US and was #1 on the country chart in the UK. Their...

Well now we know what quarterback to get on our fantasy team next season - anyone but Vince Young. The Tennessee Titan was dealt the worst luck yesterday when EA Sports announced that he would grace their cursed cover for Madden '08. Something we wouldn't wish on our worst enemies. Here's a glance of what happened to those who took the money from EA to be on the classic video game: Garrison Hearst, Madden...

The night before tens of thousands at Chavez Ravine celebrated the anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier, a few miles west, in Hollywood, an African-American star on one of the most popular tv shows in the nation was being denied entrance into a new club. Last night Gary Dourdan was told that he wasn't (choose one: famous enough, cool enough, on a hot enough show) to come into the Hollywood Blvd. club...

One of our favorite LA photographers, Malingering, went to the Dodger game last night. She has a great eye for both fashion and sports. We wonder if she would ever be an LAist contributer? Hmmmm. One can dream. Last night, of course, was Jackie Robinson Day all around the country, including Chavez Ravine, where Hank Aaron and Frank Robinson and even Jennifer Hudson showed up to honor an American hero. Way more pictures after...

I don't have the best track record for viral videos. I didn't like the LonelyGirl15 crap, since it was rotten acting and painfully obvious to anyone that it was a scam. I believed the freaked out self-haircutting bride. In fact I still stand behind it, believing that she only claimed that it was fake afterwards to make herself look better - Canadians aren't that good at acting. And I believed in LittleLoca for far...

American Idol should be thanking their lucky stars. Here they are turning the corner and there are no super hot chicks, no super fantastic singers - except for maybe LaKisha Jones - and the only remaining dudes are boyband rejects. If it wasn't for Sanjaya this would be the worst American Idol ever. And Simon can smirk and squirm every time the 17 year old doesn't suck, but the truth is Fox fucked up...

When reviewers of Saturday's KCRW Sounds Eclectic concert yawned at the surprise guest, Travis, they overlooked what they actually had in front of them. Namely the dynamic guitar duo Rodrigo Y Gabriela; and the pouty, sarcastic starlet-of-the-moment Lily Allen. When you have lightening in a bottle one one hand, and an unpredictable foul-mouthed princess on the other - and they both showed up - then you have a successful event. Today it was announced...

Although you don't need to have your taxes postmarked until tomorrow (thanks again, Honest Abe!), those of you who feel the need to haul 200 baby shower invites into the post office oughtta think again - this is stand in line to mail off your taxes time, and unless you are some sadist intent on being glared at by a bunch of your neighbors, come back on Wednesday with your colorful envelopes. Good Los...

An independently owned-and-operated AM station in San Bernardino will be the only place in the country tomorrow morning that will be airing reruns of the disgraced dj Don Imus. "I'm not going to let networks dictate to me who I run on my station, Fred Lundgren, chairman of the Inland Empire's KCAA (1050 AM), told the AP on Thursday. Imus had been syndicated through KCAA every weekday morning since 2003. Lundgren admits that what...
