A Marine reservist and two alleged accomplices were arrested today on suspicion of attempting to brutally murder his 23-year-old wife earlier this month. Brian Corder, 26, of Canoga Park allegedly conspired with two accomplices to attempt to murder his wife in their apartment and make it look like a break-in.

This morning a body was found on the steps of a public staircase not far from Echo Park Lake (or what's left of it). Residents in the area told The Eastsider that they heard at least six shots in the area around 11 am this morning.

Los Angeles is offering a $50,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest of the man nicknamed the "Teardrop Rapist," who is suspected of committing over 28 sexual assaults in the county since 1996. The suspect is accused of sexually assaulting women all the way from the 77th Division in South Los Angeles to the Rampart Division Northwest of downtown.
