When police found that the bodies of a married couple had been shot to death at the Beverly Hilton this weekend, they suspected that they had a murder-suicide case on their hands.

But the coroner's office has ruled the case a double suicide, Beverly Hills police told City News Service today.

The deceased couple was Robert Egan, 69, and Barbra Egan, 56. They had been staying at the Beverly Hilton for 6 months before they were found shot to death around 10:50 pm last Friday night. It happened the night before the Daytime Emmys were scheduled to be held at the hotel, although the couple had no connection to the event.

A note was left at the scene but investigators haven't shared its contents, according to Beverly Hills Patch.
