On the eve of Jane Harman's expected resignation from Congress, Marcy Winograd is hoping the third time is a charm in her quest to win the 36th Congressional District seat.

Winograd, an anti-war activist and high school teacher who lost both of her previous bids for the 36th district seat to Harman, will officially kick off her campaign at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Fox Drugs in Torrance. She received 41 percent of the vote in the June 2010 Democratic Party after receiving 38 percent two years prior.

"Stand up, Speak up, Fight back!" she tweeted early this morning, calling for contributions.

Winograd, co-founder of the Progressive Democrats of Los Angeles, hinted at her intentions in recent weeks, writing in the Huffington Post:

When I heard the news that Jane Harman was resigning, I thought, 'Now we finally have an opportunity to send a progressive to Congress, someone who will work to create jobs in the new economy, to free the 36th District from its perpetual war footing.'
