A man was killed in Westlake early Friday morning during a heated argument between two couples, authorities say.

Police responded to reports of a fight in the 400 block of Hartford Avenue around 1 a.m. Friday morning, KTLA reports. There, investigators discovered that two men and two women had gotten in a fight that began in an apartment and later moved outside. Once outside, the two men got into a physical fight that escalated when one allegedly grabbed a metal bar and hit the other in the head. The man who was struck was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say the fight was not gang-related, according to CBS Los Angeles, and that the alleged attacker and his girlfriend have both turned themselves in for questioning. The victim is described as being in his 30s.

The identities of those involved have not been released at this time.
