At long last, one of Santa Monica’s favorite farmer’s markets, the Saturday Pico Market, returns to its home at Virginia Park. For two years the park has been undergoing an extensive remodeling and this weekend, LAist is thinking about hitting up one of our favorite SaMo brunch spots, The Lazy Daisy, and heading over to check out the new digs. Scoping it out this week it looked a postcard picture with young and old enjoying the new basketball courts, bike and pedestrian path, playground and BBQ pits. There is also an inside facility for teens to hang out in and a small recreational gym.

Santa Monica is proud to have restructured this park in accordance with LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards. What does this mean? The Santa Monica Green Building Program prioritizes that all new building projects within the City be constructed as environmentally conscious and friendly.

Oh what will those crazy Westsiders think of next? A grand opening ceremony is scheduled for December 4th, 2005 and you can enjoy the Pico Farmer’s Market every Saturday from 8AM – 1PM.
