Telemundo who televised the Miss Universe pageant to many countries in Latin America has video of newly-crowned Zuleyka Rivera Mendoza fainting.

But this is our hope. Our hope is she was tired of all the people asking her all of the ridiculous questions until someone asked her what she wants to be after she's through with college, and said watch. And then "fainted".

That would be our Miss Universe.

Meanwhile, Miss Universe Losers Dissapoint, Shock their Home Countries:

Hindustan Times:

Miss India-Universe Neha Kapur disappointed her fans back in India when she failed to enter the top 10 at the Miss Universe 2006 pageant taking place in Los Angeles. Neha was a strong contender at the beauty pageant. She even made it to the semi-finals where top 20 women were selected by the jury. But after the swimsuit round, Miss India's magic failed to work, it seems.

Sydney Morning Herald:
Brisbane-born Erin McNaught, 24, failed to make the first cut at the contest and was not among the top 20 entrants, even though she had been the top tip of bookmakers heading into the competition among the 86 candidates. She entered the competition amid a media storm after topless photos of her were published in Australian magazine Zoo Weekly.

first off i would like to say that im glad and very proud that a latina took home the crown.. something else i would like to say would be that.. it was not fair.. Paraguay was not given a chance to speak during her two questions and the translator did not give her exact words.. Her first question was about wat she would like to show her kids.. something like that... she said respect the translator said love.. for her final question she explained... well tried to explain.. about her family buisness in antiques.. the translator said that she had a family buisness of used antiques.. I'm glad that we.. Paraguay.. did make it this far into the top five and took 3rd place. but if she was given the chance she would have gone farther...

anyway, i was deeply disappointed with our contestant. her costume was not bad in itself, but compared to others, it was..blah~ it was painful to watch i tell you especially when she was upstaged by the next contestant's garb. here's a vid i found on the net: http://www.opmb.com/forums-mb/view_topic.php?id=7604&forum_id=7. plus, in my opinion, she's not pretty enough to compete with the other contestants' cosmetically altered faces and bodies. i am all in support of natural beauty but come on, will you look at the top 5? if you know what to look for, you'll see that they had their noses "fixed." goodness! probably all the contestants except ms lia had something "fixed!"

anyway, natural beauty or no, japan looked fantastic! i was rooting for her when it finally got down to whether she or puerto rico will be crowned miss universe. i badly wanted japan to win because im so sick of the caucasians always winning the pageant. it will be a refreshing change if an asian wins again after a very long time.

They say no one remembers who came in second place, Miss Japan, Kurara Chibana, is the runner-up, which as we all know is very important if Miss Universe cannot fulfill her duties.AP Photo/Ann Johansson
