Video: Gigantic Tunneling Machine Reaches The First New Station On The Crenshaw/LAX Line
While so much attention has been on Metro's construction of the Purple Line (and the weekend traffic apocalypse it creates in the Miracle Mile), it's easy to forget that Metro has been hard at work on yet another rail line!
Work on the Crenshaw/LAX Line hit a milestone on Monday when their massive tunnel boring machine, named Harriet after Harriet Tubman, finally reached the first new stop on the future route. Metro's The Source blog announced yesterday that Harriet had reached the future Martin Luther King Jr. station, months after beginning her journey at the end of April. Next stop: Leimert Park.
The Crenshaw/LAX Line is slated to open in 2019 and will run from the Expo Line station at Expo/Crenshaw and connect with the Green Line at Aviation/LAX. Here's what some of the stations are expected to look like.
