Van Nuys Man Allegedly Killed Elderly Mother By Throwing Her Out Of A Window
A woman in her 70s was killed early on Monday morning after her adult son allegedly threw her out of a second-story window at a Van Nuys apartment complex, reports the L.A. Times. Her son, described as a man in his 40s, has been arrested on suspicion of murder, according to City News Service.
Officers first responded to the building, located in the 7400 block of Hazeltine Avenue, at around 2:50 a.m., according to KABC. When they arrived, they found the woman lying in driveway to the building's underground parking garage.
Witnesses of the incident say that, after pushing his mother out of the apartment window, the man jumped down from the second story, and continued to attack her.
According to LAPD, the mother and son had been arguing in the minutes before the incident. Investigators told the L.A. Times that a domestic dispute preceded the defenestration, but they cannot specify what the specific causes were.
The woman was transported to a nearby hospital where she later died. The man was also transported to a hospital where he received treatment for injuries sustained during the fall.
