UCLA's red scare downshifts

The self-appointed Joseph McCarthy of UCLA's alumni has dropped his offer to pay students $100 for fingering "radical" faculty. However, Andrew Jones will continue his witch hunt with students who volunteer to "expose" faculty members whose ideology differs from him own.
While it might have been all the negative press attention, Mack Reed thinks Jones was outsmarted by professors who would happily encourage their students to turn them in, en masse, costing his organizations thousands. Some even raised their hands and said, take me! Aren't I radical enough for you?
We're relieved that the professors stood up for intellectual freedom. Los Angeles is no place for vitriolic red-baiters (except as on-screen foils for David Strathairn).
