In 1978, psychobilly shock band The Cramps made the trek from New York City to sunny California, giving a free performance to the punk fans and patients alike at the Napa State Mental Hospital. One could only wonder how they were even permitted to do this, but from what can be seen in this lo-fi Target Video footage, the band seems to fit right in. Watching patients intermingle with members Lux Interior and Poison Ivy on stage shows just how raw and gritty rock and roll can be. They play this Sunday night at Sunset's going to be craaaazy.
