A cab driver was killed during what authorities suspect was a robbery in El Sereno.

Around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, police received a call about a shooting in an industrial neighborhood, near the intersection of Indiana Avenue and Worth Street, according to the L.A. Times. When they arrived, they found 43-year-old Antonio Gonzalez of Alhambra, lying in the roadway near his taxi cab, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced Gonzalez dead at the scene. According to LAPD Det. Jose Ramirez, there were multiple shell casings found at the scene, but it's still not known how many times the victim was shot.

There were no reported witnesses to the shooting, but workers at a nearby business reported it to police after a passing driver saw Gonzalez. According to NBC 7, Gonzalez was believed to have picked up two male passengers before the incident. Authorities now have the phone number associated with the call to dispatch and are investigating.

Gonzalez, a father of four, drove a taxi for nearly two decades to support his family.
