Sunset Junction 2007 Bonus Photo Essay

Last weekend's Sunset Junction Street Fair was so fun that another photo essay was necessary. So join us after the jump for more memories of the Silver Lake fiesta and lots and lots and lots of pictures.
But instead of pics of bands like in our other bad ass photo dispatches, this essay is about the people, the food, and the services.
If you were there perhaps you will see yourself...

All of our other photo essays were about what was happening on the music stages. Which makes sense, LAist's heart is in the local music scene...

... which is one reason we love that when you go to Sunset Junction you sorta have to walk past the Elliott Smith wall.

But a lot of people overlook the fact that it's a neighborhood street fair, perfectly fine for families, moms, expecting moms, and kids.

And because it is a great street fair, there are lots of varieties of food and drink to sample

This was the most expensive ice cream truck we'd ever seen.

This was the best dancing we saw

And the best tshirt

Pop Quiz: What's This a picture of? Answer later..

It was hot, which meant the clothes were sheer and the parasols were out

There were some wild things to be seen

But the weirdest thing we saw was the free Hep Shots, provided by the city. So we got one.

We have to go back next week, and then again a week later, and then we're fully immunized.

Then we we entered a discussion with Team Hillary and were sadly unimpressed, especially by their crazy dog that was barking at people. Ron Paul's dog doesn't bark.
We were impressed by the water balloon fight game thing deal:

Anyways, Sunset Junction we will miss you

We had fun

We got to see things, eat things, smoke things, and smell things

And listen to things

You're the best Sunset Junction

And this is the answer to the pop quiz. It's a new overpriced condo.

As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.
Simply put, we cannot do this essential work without your help. Federal funding for public media has been clawed back by Congress and that means LAist has lost $3.4 million in federal funding over the next two years. So we’re asking for your help. LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.
We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.
No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, press freedom is at the core of keeping our nation free and fair. And as the landscape of free press changes, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust, but the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news from our community.
Please take action today to support your trusted source for local news with a donation that makes sense for your budget.
Thank you for your generous support and believing in independent news.
