A 35-year-old man was arrested early this morning for allegedly shooting his wife in the face inside a Covina apartment.Covina police responded to a caller's report at 12:11 a.m. that gunshots were heard at the apartment located on the 1200 block of North Citrus Avenue, and a woman was bleeding from her head, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reports.

When authorities arrived, the woman, who was bleeding, and her husband walked out of the apartment. She was taken to the Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center, and is in serious condition, according to ABC 7. A handgun was found at the scene.

"The investigation determined the husband and wife had been arguing throughout the day over relationship issues. He shot her in the face," Covina Police Sgt. Gregg Peterson told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

When the shooting occurred, there were three adults and a 3-year-old child in the home. Peterson said the couple share the apartment with family members, and the couple live in the living room.

Police arrested Raymond Guerra on suspicion of attempted murder, and he was also charged for an unrelated, outstanding traffic warrant. He's being held in a Covina jail in lieu of $1,030,000 bail. He will be arraigned in court on Wednesday.
