Packing for the Polls

Stories like these are only possible with your help!
Your donation today keeps LAist independent, ready to meet the needs of our city, and paywall free. Thank you for your partnership, we can't do this without you.

Based on conversations with LA voters from all parts of the city, it appears that lines are the norm at every polling place. Wait times to cast a ballot have varied from 10 minutes to an hour. Despite the wait, people have mostly been friendly and patient, almost as though they understood the importance of doing their civic duty.

We'll remind you (yet again) to go vote if you haven't done so already. The lines are bound to be longer once people leave work and head out to the polls. In order to improve your overall voting experience, LAist has compiled a brief list of handy-dandy items you might want to take with you to stave off boredom as you wait in line:

  • Your sample ballot
  • A bottle of water and leftover Halloween candy
  • A jacket
  • Your iPod; what will you be listening to as you cast your vote? What would be appropriate Election Day music?

If you have any other helpful suggestions, feel free to post them in the comments.
