Baby With Umbilical Cord Still Attached Found Alone Near USC

A newborn baby with its umbilical cord still attached was found abandoned in a stroller in South L.A., according to police.

The infant was found unattended in a stroller near the corner of Vermont Avenue and Dana Street. Police received a report of child abuse Tuesday afternoon and were called to the scene in the Adams-Normandie neighborhood, just north of USC, according to KTLA.

The newborn is reportedly in stable condition after being hospitalized around 1 p.m.

Detectives are searching for witnesses to the abandonment and hope to obtain surveillance footage from nearby businesses, according to ABC 7.
