A Palmdale woman was arrested for holding her 8-year-old son underwater and allegedly trying to drown him in the pool of an apartment complex yesterday.

The Palmdale Sheriff's deputies arrested 33-year-old Allaire McDougall at the Monte Vista apartments in the 2500 block of Olive Drive. The boy was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

Witnesses jumped in to save the boy as the mom held him under shouting, "It's the end of the world. I have to let you go," reports CBS2.

McDougall is in custody and being held on $1 million bail.
