Miamist Launches with Wilma Coverage

Before you read this story...
Dear reader, we're asking for your help to keep local reporting available for all. Your financial support keeps stories like this one free to read, instead of hidden behind paywalls. We believe when reliable local reporting is widely available, the entire community benefits. Thank you for investing in your neighborhood.

What a day for Rachel and J.R. to make their debut. The 14th city in the Gothamist network is Miami and they've launched today with the major story of their lovely locale being the arrival of Hurricane Wilma to Florida. Five of the six stories today deal with Wilma and her awful ways. More than 1 million people are without power currently but that isn't stopping the newest kids on the block.

Please welcome Miamist and send them good wishes for safety.
