Looks like Tom Cruise has a new friend to hit the town with -- Antonio Villaraigosa announced last night that he's splitting from his girlfriend of three years, Lu Parker.

Villaraigosa and Parker started dating in 2009 after he broke up with Telemundo anchor Mirthala Salinas, who he began seeing while he was still married to his wife of 20 years, Corina Villaraigosa. The amorous mayor hasn't commented on the fresh break-up except to confirm that it happened, and reportedly even called an LA Times reporter an "idiot" and a "bottom-feeder" for asking about it recently.

According to LA Observed, Parker, who's a reporter for KTLA, called the relationship off on May 25. It's not clear whether she's still living in the Getty House, the mayor's official residence.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive before year-end will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
