Man Who Dismembered Mother, Kept Body Parts In Freezer Sentenced To 25 Years
A 21-year-old man who murdered his mother, dismembered her and kept her body parts in his freezer was sentenced to 25 years to life today, CBS News reports.Moises Meraz-Espinoza was convicted in June of first-degree murder for the February 2011 killing.
He was 18 at the time of the murder. He walked into the Huntington Park police station and told officers he murdered his mother, 42-year-old Amelia Espinoza, and put her body in a freezer in the home they shared in Maywood.
Coroner's officials said Espinoza died of asphyxia and neck compression. After she was dead, her son skinned her with a knife and box cutters and used a saw to dismember her, police said. Her organs had been removed and were never found, according to Deputy District Attorney Heba Matta.
Authorities believe the murder was related to Satanic worship, as a Satanic bible containing a human sacrifice chapter was found inside the home and the suspect got a tattoo of a Satanic cross behind his left ear while in prison.
