Man Jumps to Death from Alexandria Hotel in Downtown L.A.

A man jumped to his death from the Alexandria Hotel in downtown Los Angeles this afternoon.
Los Angeles Police Department Det. Gus Villanueva told LAist that the man jumped at 3:55 pm. City Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey told us that at 3:58 pm, fire department responders arrived and found the man already dead at the corner of 5th and Spring.
The man jumped from the fourth floor, according to City News Service.
The Alexandria is a large, low-rent apartment building. Although once a prestigious hotel, its “micro lofts” are now affordable housing for a motley mix of downtowners on the economic fringes and young people who have recently moved to the city.
Numerous witnesses described the tragic scene on Twitter.
